Posted by Lyemium Editorial on Sep 26, 2014
When party drugs become a work of art. By accumulating thousands of ecstasy pills, Chemical X produces these stunning art pieces.

Chemical X's ecstasy work is on display at The Ark in London organized by the Bear Club Gallery which is set to last until October 2nd. Around the London scence Chemical X is also famous for designing the original Ministry of Sound logo as well as working with Banksy and Damien Hirst.

The series of pieces examines our relationship with MDMA as a society and as individuals, through the use of imagery closely associated with drug culture and the drugs themselves. After the scaremongering and headlines fade, this is a drug taken buy many thousands of people every week with little or no ill effects. Now, with over a hundred years having passed since it was patented, this is a re-examination of an old friend or perhaps a feared enemy.

In the price range of $130,000 to $160,000 you can purchase one of these artworks? We know what you're thinking, "are the total number of pills worth the price?". "Ecstasy pills used in art? How is such a thing legal?" Interestingly enough, Chemical X's last London show was cancelled following the venue’s concerns over having thousands of ecstasy pills up for display. Regardless of the legal ramifications his works are magnificent.
