Zdzislaw Beksinski was a Polish painter, photographer, and sculptor.
The work of Zdzislaw Beksinski's art captures a very dark and provocative emotion which can also reflect communist Poland at the time. Beksinski's best-known examples come from his fantastic realism period a lot of his work began "normal" but later turned dark and Gothic. Beksinski painted these pieces from his own dreams. He would wake up at night and paint what he had remembered.
He was murdered in 2005.
