Despite its old heritage, the Dutch capital has always maintained a progressive attitude when it comes to urban art, so much so that a number of internationally acclaimed street artists have left their mark on the city’s urban landscape, adorning Amsterdam’s brick and concrete walls with their spectacular work.

    With Amsterdam hosting many of New York's best street artists early on, the Amsterdam graffiti scene ignited and thrived well into the nineties. In 1992, the city temporarily stopped cleaning subways because of toxic chemicals in the cleaning material thus creating a scene reminiscent of New York during the 70s. Today, the Amsterdam street art and graffiti scene is relatively small in comparison to highs of 90s, but this hasn't stopped the city from producing great murals below are list of outstanding street art found around town.
