If you aren't too keen on the every changing internet culture the term “Cyber Monday” has little meaning or effect on you. If you are an online retailer you know every well what Cyber Monday is and if you don't you will be after this.
What is Cyber Monday?
Ever heard of Black Friday? Well Cyber Monday goes along those lines, it is bascially the Monday following Black Friday. Cyber Monday is more of a ceremonial day to jump start the holiday online shopping season. The traditional brick-and-mortar business have Black Friday, while the online e-shops have Cyber Monday.
How does the online seller have an advantage?
- The main advantage of online sellers if you are using drop shipments, is that you don't have to worry about overstocking or understocking inventory.
- The second advantage deals more with hiring process of human labor. Remember the global economy is slowly emerging from a recession, it's nice to be optimistic about sales but the reality of the matter is business may be slow, and hiring extra labour drags any profit you plan on having.
- Not being locally limited. Being online you have access to the global market and as a result have a larger target audience, if you have done so already, it's time to touch up on your online marketing skills.
- The speed at which you can adjust. Let face it in today's “web 2.0” world most sites have some sort of analytics, and if you have an online store, your analytics is your strongest tool, why? Because you can see what is selling and what is not in almost real time. You are able to adapt to the holiday trends faster than traditional stores.
- Now more than ever, we are in some way shape or form, effected by the advertisements that we encounter on the internet. The power of social media websites, social bookmarks, online promotions, google ads, e-mail coupons, sure gets the message of your product out faster than traditional methods.
